Why is my invoice overdue?
An invoice is overdue when its due date has passed and part is unpaid. Remind the customer, record the payment, or send reminders automatically.
Overdue means the invoice's due date has passed and part of it is still unpaid. It changes by itself the day after the due date. Once the customer pays and you record the payment, it becomes Paid.
Steps
-
See what is overdue. In Sales & Invoicing → Invoices, click the Overdue filter. Still due shows what is left to pay.
The Overdue filter -
Open the invoice. The due date is under Bill to, and Still due is in the totals.
Due date and still due -
Remind the customer. Overdue invoices have Send reminder instead of Email invoice. The reminder email is ready with the PDF attached; click Send.
Send a reminder -
Already paid? Then the payment just isn't recorded yet. Record it under Payments on the invoice; the status changes to Partly paid or Paid.
Or record the payment
Tip Let Owlvix chase for you: in Sales → Emails & reminders, tick Send automatic reminders for overdue invoices and choose the days after the due date, for example
3, 10, 30.
Good to know
- The due date comes from the customer's payment terms. Change it on a draft before you issue it.
- A credit note also lowers what is still due.
