Set up allowances and deductions
Add the monthly allowances and deductions for each employee, as a fixed amount or a percentage of salary, so every pay run includes them.
Pay items are the amounts added to or taken from an employee's salary every month: a housing or transport allowance, social security, income tax or a loan repayment. Set them once on the employee and every pay run uses them.
Steps
-
Open the employee. In HR Management → Employees, click the person. Pay items lists what is added (green) and taken off (red) every month.
Open the employee -
Add an allowance. Type a Name, keep Allowance (+), choose your currency in As for a fixed amount and enter the Amount. Click Add.
Add an allowance -
Add a deduction. Choose Deduction (−). For a percentage, choose % of salary in As and enter the rate, for example 2.5. Click Add.
Add a deduction -
Check the list. Allowances show with +, deductions with −. Click ✕ to remove one. The next pay run you create or recalculate uses them.
Click "Add"
Tip For a one-time bonus or deduction, don't add a pay item: add a one-off on the payslip in the draft pay run instead.
Good to know
- Percentages are worked out on the basic salary for the month.
- Someone who works part of a month gets the same share of their fixed allowances and deductions as of their basic salary.
- The monthly salary itself is changed with Edit on the employee.
