Turn on two-factor login
Protect your login with a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, and save your recovery codes.
With two-factor login, you enter a 6-digit code from your phone after your password. Someone who learns your password still can't get in. It takes a minute and works with Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password or any authenticator app.
Steps
-
Open Security. Click the shield at the top right of any page. Two-factor login shows Off.
Open Security -
Click Turn on. A QR code and a key appear.
Click "Turn on" -
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (in the app: add an account, then scan). No camera? Type the key instead.
-
Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and click Confirm.
Scan, then enter the code -
Save your recovery codes. You see a set of codes, once. Click Copy and keep them somewhere safe, such as a password manager. Each one lets you in once if you lose your phone.
Save your recovery codes
Warning Without your phone and without a recovery code you can't log in. Keep the codes safe.
Good to know
- Lost the codes? On the same page, New recovery codes makes a fresh set (you need your password); the old ones stop working.
- To turn it off, click Turn off and enter your password. If your company requires two-factor login, you can't turn it off.
- Changing phones? Turn it off and on again with the new phone, or move the account in your authenticator app.
