Record a supplier credit note
Lower what you owe on a bill when a supplier gives a discount or takes back a cost, without moving stock.
Sometimes a supplier lowers a bill: a late-delivery discount, a price mistake, a cost they take back. Record their credit note on the bill and it comes off what you owe.
Steps
-
Open the bill and click Credit note.
Open the bill, click "Credit note" -
Enter the credit. Type the amount credited on each line, before tax.
Enter the credit -
Add the reason and date. For example "Late delivery discount", and the date on their credit note.
-
Check the totals. You see the credit and what is left to pay on the bill. Click Record credit note.
Record credit note -
It comes off the bill. The credit note (DN-…) shows Taken off the bill. If the bill was already paid, the credit is a refund due from the supplier instead.

Note A credit note doesn't move stock. To send goods back, use Return to supplier.
