Create a project
Set up a project for a customer (or an internal one) with a budget in hours, your hourly rate and what an hour costs you.
A project groups the tasks, hours and costs of one piece of work: fitting out a cold store for a customer, or an internal job like a new packing line. With rates set, Owlvix shows what the work is worth, what it costs and what is left to bill.
Steps
-
Open Projects. The overview shows your open projects with their progress, your hours this week and the time not yet billed. Click New project.
Open Projects -
Name the project so anyone can tell what it is, for example Warehouse racking for Karachi Exporters.
Name the project -
Pick the customer, or leave it on Internal project for your own work. Choose the Project manager.
Customer and manager -
Add the dates and the budget. Deadline is when it should be done; Budget (hours) is how many hours you planned. You'll see how much of it is used as time is logged.
Dates and budget -
Set the rates. Bill per hour is what the customer pays for an hour. Cost per hour is what an hour costs you (wages and overhead); it is used for the profit.
Bill and cost per hour -
Click Save project. The project opens on its task board, ready for the first tasks.
Save the project
Tip Set the Status to On hold or Done later on: done projects leave the overview but keep all their hours and costs.
Good to know
- An internal project can't be invoiced, but its hours and costs still count.
- Change anything later with Edit on the project.
