Every issued invoice can be downloaded as an e-invoice: an XML file in the international UBL / Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 format (EN 16931), which Peppol networks and many tax authorities accept.

Steps

  1. Open E-Invoicing. The Ready? column shows which issued invoices have everything an e-invoice needs. If something is missing, see Set up e-invoicing.

    Which invoices are ready
  2. Click XML ↓. The file downloads, named after the invoice number.

    Download the XML
  3. Or download it from the invoice. Issued invoices have an E-invoice (XML) button at the top.

    Or from the invoice
  4. Send or upload it. Email the file to your customer, or upload it to your Peppol access point or tax portal.

Note Direct submission to a national portal (such as ZATCA Fatoora, FBR or a Peppol access point) is set up per country. Until then, download the file and upload it yourself.

Good to know

  • Only issued (or paid) invoices can be e-invoices; drafts and void invoices can't.
  • The file has the same lines, tax and totals as the PDF.
