Owlvix prepares your VAT or GST return from your books: tax on your sales minus tax on your purchases. You submit the figures on your tax office's website, then mark the return as filed here.

Steps

  1. Open Tax Returns. The return for last month is shown first.

  2. Choose the period. Click a month, quarter or year at the top, or pick your own dates and click Show.

  3. Read the totals. Tax on sales is what you collected from customers. Tax on purchases is what you paid suppliers and can claim back. To pay is the difference (or To reclaim if it is negative).

  4. Check the breakdown. Sales and purchases are split by tax rate, with the net amount and the tax: the boxes most tax forms ask for.

  5. Export and submit. Export CSV gives the details for your accountant. Submit the return on your tax office's website.

  6. Mark it as filed. Type the Filing reference you got (optional) and click Mark as filed.

  7. Confirm with File return. The tax accounts are settled in your books and the amount moves to Tax Due to Authority until you pay it.

Warning Filing can't be undone, and it locks the period for tax. See Pay your tax and the lock date.

Good to know

  • Only issued invoices and posted bills count; drafts don't.
  • Tax rates are set up in Sales & Invoicing → Tax rates.
