Refund a register sale

Give a customer their money back for a sale: the goods go back into stock and a refund is booked in the session.

When a customer brings something back, refund the sale. The items go back into stock, the money is paid back the way it was taken, and the refund is counted in the open register session.

Steps

  1. Open Point of Sale, then the Sales tab, and click the sale. Search by its number from the customer's receipt.

    Find the sale
  2. Check the sale. You see the items, the total and how it was paid.

    Check the sale
  3. Click Refund. Owlvix asks you to confirm and tells you how much is paid back.

    Click "Refund"
  4. Click Refund to confirm. A refund is made with its own number, marked Refund of the original sale. Pay the customer back in cash or on the card terminal.

    Confirm the refund

Warning A refund can't be undone. It refunds the whole sale; to take back only some items, refund the sale and ring up the rest again.

Good to know

  • A register must be open to refund: the refund is counted in that session's cash or card total.
  • The original sale shows Refunded in with a link to the refund.
