Import a bank statement

Upload the CSV file from your online banking; Owlvix reads the columns, skips lines already imported and adds the rest.

Import your bank statement to check your books against the bank. Download a CSV file from your online banking and upload it; then reconcile the lines.

Steps

  1. Open Finance & Accounting, then Bank. Each account shows its statement balance, its balance in your books, and the difference.

    Open "Bank"
  2. Open the account and click Import statement.

    Click "Import statement"
  3. Choose the CSV file. Download it from your online banking first (often under "Export" or "Download transactions").

  4. Check the columns. Owlvix guesses the Date column, Description column and Amount column. Check them, and pick the Date format your bank uses. If money in and out are in separate columns, choose Separate money in and money out columns.

    Check the columns
  5. Click Preview. Every line is listed with its status. Lines imported before are marked Already imported and skipped, so importing an overlapping file is safe.

    Preview
  6. Click Import. The lines are added under To reconcile.

    Import the lines

Tip The first time, enter the Opening balance: the statement balance before the first line in the file.
